Stress and anxiety lurk behind every corner of our lives.  We are constantly juggling and managing work, family, finances and our health.  But WHEN and HOW do we manage our mind?  Is it EVEN possible?
The answer is YES.  The ancient practices of meditation and yoga have proven to reduce stress, lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels as well as create a sense of peace and balance.  Managing your mind and reducing stress IS possible. This workshop will show you how and give you the space to practice.  The first hour is dedicated to meditation and includes a brief discussion followed by a guided meditation.  The second hour will integrate meditation with a gentle yoga practice.


THE ESSENTIALS OF YOGA

This two hour workshop is an overview of the science of yoga and how the practices of yoga are designed to unite the body, mind and soul.  This workshop will identify the various paths, branches, and maps of yoga and provide a broad history and timeline of the ancient practice.  The first half of the workshop is a lecture and discussion.  The second half includes a guided 45 minute gentle yoga practice including both meditation and yogic breathing(pranayama).   The class is ideal for a beginner looking to learn about yoga and for the experienced yogi who wants to enhance and refresh their yoga knowledge.


THE ART OF YOGIC BREATHING

Pranayama is defined as guiding or expanding of the life force within.  Learn how practicing pranayama can increase energy and vitality, reduce stress and purify and balance the systems of the body.  Experience how the simply movement and expansion of your own breath can cultivate inner focus and clarity. You will learn and practice Dirgha (three part breath), Ujjayi (ocean sounding breath), Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breath, Anuloma Viloma (alternate nostril breath with retention), Kapalabhati (skull shining breath), and Sitali/Sitkari (cooling breath).


STRESS MANAGEMENT

​This workshop identifies the major triggers of stress and the effects they have on your health, family and work.  Loss of productivity, irritability, fatigue and lack of concentration are just a few examples of the havoc stress can wreak in your life.  You will learn real life strategies for balancing the stress in your life and leave with an action plan ready to implement.
